[...] A number of books examine the storied Cape league, but Jim’s narrative account of an entire Cape season is an enjoyable journalistic telling of the players, managers and dynamics of elite collegiate summer baseball. I would go so far as to say it’s a must-read for any serious baseball fan regardless of the level of baseball that interests you. [...]

You left out Cape Crusaders by Mike Thomas. It's a book that talks with people in the league and major leaguers that passed through the league. I recommend the Touching the Game DVD or Beach Chairs... for people starting out learning about the league. If you can attend a real game, then Beach Chairs... is by far the best starting point. If not, The Last Best League is an entry point for those looking for a good (and real) story. Good summary overall.
