Cape League vs. U.S. Military All-Stars
Posted by Andrew | Filed Under Games |
This weekend a team representing the Cape League will face off against the U.S. Military All-Stars. A total of 11 contract players and 29 temporary players for the Cape will be playing either Saturday night in Chatham (weather permitting) or Sunday night in Orleans. For those scared by the chance of a rainout, you can watch Saturday night’s game on WBZ1030.com. Both games are scheduled for 7pm.
In today’s Cape Cod Times, make sure to read sports editor Bill Higgins’ story about his nephew Brian Higgins, who will be pitching this weekend for the Military All-Stars. Brian is a Cape Cod native that I grew up playing basketball and baseball with. This weekend could be his last time playing organized baseball.

Just an update:
I tried connecting to the stream at 7pm on Saturday, but it was unwatchable due to buffering. I was able to finally connect fine at 8:30pm in the 6th after it appeared that the equipment was reset (?). The Cape team won 3-1, and I enjoyed watching three innings. The 50/50 raffle prize was $352, and the winner donated it back to the military team. The crowd was slim, so I was surprised the prize was that big.
Brian Higgins pitched the bottom of the 9th (which technically didn’t need to be played) and retired the side easily.
Overall, the video quality is better than I expected! There are several camera angles, though they don’t keep up with the action too well (but with the commentating you can follow along). The video was buffering a few times, but it was bearable. I’m looking forward to the other WBZ 1030 games of the week.
I will be at the game tomorrow night in Orleans.
