Wareham Roster

Just a quick post to let CodBall readers know that the Wareham Gateman roster has been updated. There are now 23 names on the roster. Obviously there will be many changes between now and June but it is good to see one of the teams is updating their website with some off-season news. http://www.gatemen.org/team.shtml
I noticed that myself a couple of days ago…To my knowledge, I believe that they are the only team that does any type of “news and notes” section which I find really interesting.

After looking at their roster, three names stick out in my mind. Mike Minor, who was as important to Vanderbilt as David Price last year, is on the Wareham roster. He played for Team USA last year so it will be interesting to see if he comes to the Cape. Derek Dietrich was a very high round draft choice of I believe the Phillies (someone might want to validate my memory) and I just assumed that he signed. He is a name to watch as he was highly regarded out of high school and will now do to Georgia Tech. The last name that I find interesting is Riley Boening out of Texas who is listed as a non-roster player. If you remember, he pitched Wareham into the championship a couple of years ago pitching through that “ligt situation” at Spillane Field. He then got hurt and didn’t throw an inning for Texas last year and may now come to Wareham after his junior year? Very interesting.
dietrich was an aflac all american and was drafted by the astros in the third round but obv. didnt sign as he might possibly be heading ot the cape this summer
