Hyannis Needs Your Help

Hyannis Lights InstallationThe Hyannis Mets are seeking donations for their lighting project. They have raised $292,000 out of a total $400,000 that is needed for the project. 100% of the money raised goes into the effort to return lights and also for renovations of the press box/concession stands. “It’s crunch time,” according to their homepage.

Please visit the McKeon Park Renovation Project page to help. It’s quick, easy, and safe to donate with PayPal.

Also noticed in the Cape Cod Times this morning a story about Orleans applying for a Yawkey Foundation Grant to make improvements to Eldredge Park. Included in the improvements is a screen that will protect fans along the baselines from foul balls which can be lowered after games…a point of contention among the Orleans local government. Only on Cape Cod would they be more concerned about maintaining the “Norman Rockwell” aspect of the ballfield than preventing someone from getting hit with a foul ball. Read the piece below..I got a good chuckle out of that arguement.

Readers, Bill Bussiere is probably a future CCBL Hall of Famer. His son, also Bill, wrote an incredibly great blog last season about the league for the Cape Cod Times.

    Let’s support this effort!

Is the project in jeopardy of NOT getting completed if the money isn’t raised by a certain time?

Based on pictures and news on the Mets website, work has obviously begun but will it simply stop if the money isn’t raised?
