Chatham To Host 2008 All-Star Game

God Bless AmericaThe 2008 Under Armour Cape League All-Star Game will be played at 6pm on July 26, 2008 @ Veterans Field (home of the Chatham A’s). The league announced the decision in an official press release. The last time Chatham hosted the event was in 1998, when they drew a crowd of 4500 fans. The largest crowd on record at Veterans is over 10,000, when Team USA visited the Cape All-Stars.

The game will be aired again this year on WCAI-FM (Cape and Islands NPR). Both NESN and ESPN have expressed interest in televising the game, but a deal has not yet been finalized. Last year, NESN televised the game on tape delay.

This will be Chatham’s 5th Cape All-Star Game. Cotuit is still the only team never to host an all-star game.

We’re all patiently awaiting the 2008 Cape schedule here at CodBall. We expect the league to release it any day now. Last year, the schedule was available on December 14th.

    There was one hint of the schedule on the Wareham site. A note mentioning that June 13th, Opening Day, will be John Wylde Day. It goes on to mention that Wareham and their opponent will be the only two teams playing on the day.
