Falmouth Commodores Publish 2008 Roster

Some familiar and impressive names return to the 2008 roster of the Falmouth Commodores, last season’s runner-up in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
The Oregon State trend continues in Falmouth with the return of the Great One — Joey Wong. There are currently three other Beavers. See my homage to Oregon State baseball.
Preston Claiborne from Tulane returns. Listen to my interview with Preston from the beneath the bleachers at Zephyr Stadium in New Orleans.
Missouri pitching continues in Guv Fuller field.
As a Woods Hole guy I don’t hide my affection for the Falmouth Commodores. Looks like another exciting season.

Without double checking, and someone correct me if I’m wrong, I believe that all of the Western Division teams have posted their rosters. Orleans, Chatham, Brewster, Harwich still have not posted.
That is correct, CapeMan.
Greg, you should be happy ! If these players arrive on the Cape, it looks like Falmouth has a lot of talent on their roster. It could be a lot of fun at Guv Fuller Field this summer !
So far, I like the Falmouth and Wareham rosters. YD just seems to continue to land talent…it will be just a matter of what it looks like once they complete their roster.
The Falmouth pitching looks strong and Wareham, as usual, looks to have a lot of “names” that, if they all come, will be loaded. Mike Minor’s name is all over college bb publications and he was suppose to pitch for Wareham last year before going to Team USA. Kyle Gibson, Hunter Morris and Nate Striz all have big arms for Falmouth.
Wareham also has Andy Oliver, Kendal Volz and Dallas Keuchel returning as starters…again, names that you see in all college bb previews.
I received a nice note from Dan Dunn, the Falmouth Commodores GM:
Our 2008 roster has alot of young power hitting.
In 2007 we won the West Division with enough hitting but certainly the best pitching roster in the league.
This year although we still have a very strong pitching staff anchored with returning all star Kyle Gibson and 2nd year Commodore Preston Claiborne who I think sowed alot of great promise late in 2007, we will have a great staff. But hitting has to be the big new story for 2008. Although some of our hitters are young, like Hunter Morris we seem to have all the corners covered and even depth in DH and Outfield hitters.
The addition of Andrew Clark from Louisville with Morris give DH, 1B a strong duo. Outfielder Gab Cohen is a proven 2nd year hitter from UCL with great power. Catcher Trevor Coleman can both hit and handle the plate duties well.
