Y-D’s Phil Humber in Santana Deal
Posted by Greg | Filed Under News |
ESPN is reporting that former Y-D Red Sox player Phil Humber (2003) is part of the deal that will send several prospects from the New York Mets to Minnesota in a trade for two-time Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana.
CodBall has reported previously on Humber.

In an article written by Gordon Edes in today’s Boston Globe, it is reported that Kevin Mulvey (RHP) may also be included in the proposed deal that sends Santana from the Twins to the Mets. Mulvey attended Villanova and pitched for the Harwich Mariners in 2004 and 2005. If this trade goes through, a couple of ex-Cape Leaguers will be a part of one of the biggest trades of this off-season.
I couldn’t find evidence of Mulvey playing in the league but you’re probably right.
Interestingly, Humber also is named in trade speculation in the strange stalled Bedard trade talks between Seattle and Baltimore.

Just poking around some of the league sites tonight…
- I saw on the CCBL site that the tryout will be in Wareham but run by Cotuit.
- I noticed on the Wareham site that they are going to be introducing a brand new website.
- Someone is actually updating the Bourne site during the off-season!!
- The Harwich site has an announcement that the Military game is going to be at their place.
