judy-scarafile.JPGIn this CodBall Conversation, we chat with Cape Cod Baseball League President Judy Scarafile about last season and the season ahead.

The President of the league led a delegation of Cape Cod Baseball League officials to Philadelphia recently where they attended the annual convention of the American Baseball Coaches Association.

As Major League baseball continues to respond to the Mitchell Report on steroids, amateur baseball prepares for the start of the college season in a few weeks. So while it is cold here on the Cape, and summer baseball seems a distant dream, the annual ritual of elite amateur baseball is waking from its winter slumbers.

This is a “milestone moment” for Codball. Congratulations on getting this interview. Would you be opposed to some of us suggesting some questions to ask? I know you probably couldn’t get all of them in but here are some ideas:

    1. What is the league’s current position on expansion? New Bedord is clearly lobbying for a team and the mayor doesn’t seem shy about courting the CCBL. Does NB fit into any future plans?

    2. Can you talk about John Wylde and the impact that he has had on Cape Cod League Baseball.

    3. The All-Star game this past season was a great success and seemed to take a step up in terms of becoming a major event. With so many of the ballparks limited in terms of parking and seating, how will the CCBL deal with the expansion of this terrific spectator event?

    4. Do you have a favorite ballpark for watching a game?

Thanks. The interview was pre-recorded. We did talk about 1-3 but I don’t think I got to #4. Next time.

Judy is a tremendous person. I do not profess to know her well, but I have been acquainted with her from the time she was a reporter for the old Cape Cod Standard Times. I have always found her to be very approachable. We know her as the President of the Cape Cod Baseball League, but she is a multi-faceted person with diverse interests from her professional work as a pharmacist to working as a member of the Cape Cod Stranding Network. She is a class individual.

We are recording an interview with John Wylde tomorrow for a future CodBall Conversation. This will obviously be a tribute to his incredible contributions. Any suggestions for topics, questions, etc.

    thanks
