I’m sure Harwich has signed other catchers too….they are kind of slow updating their site. Speaking of sites…has anyone seen the new Gatemen site? I really like…professional, nicely organized and a ton of information.

I wonder how the Oliver situation will affect his summer eligibility? You’d think if eligible, his coach would want him pitching somewhere since he won’t be able to now or next season for the first 28 games.

I was really just pointing out that Medica has been the only catcher listed on the Mariner’s roster and now he may not be coming to Harwich. I’m sure they have a couple catchers who have signed contracts, but they just haven’t updated the roster on their website.
Very interesting note you provided about Andy Oliver. I was not aware of that.
Not seeing Matt Harvey’s name on the Team USA list of invitees is good news for Chatham. I would enjoy the opportunity to see him pitch on the Cape this summer. The A’s have been hurt by the loss of Addison Johnson (injury) and the potential loss of Kyle Seager (Team USA). A middle infield combo of Seager and Grant Green would be very exciting.

My mistake on Medica…I had him listed playing for Bourne…thanks Dave.

Ackley is a great player…I’d be shocked if he didn’t make the team. Same goes for Ryan Berry. With Wareham, they have maybe the two most talented left handed pitchers coming to the Cape in Minor and Oliver and I would be surprised if they don’t keep the two of them to ensure a left handed presence. (Although Oliver has been declared ineligible for the playoffs and some games next year due to contact with an agent.) Also, arguably Wareham’s two best offensive players…Phegley and Dietrich…should also make the team; although they will be up against good competion at the trials.

Still no Matt Harvey on the list….maybe that Coach Fox/Cape League influence is continuing.?!?!

Tommy Medica is the only catcher listed on the Harwich roster. I’m sure their actual roster is much different from what we see on their website. Losing Medica and Ackley would be a blow to the Mariners.
Bourne’s pitching staff will be hurt if Berry and Pomeranz stick with Team USA.
Wareham will be hardest hit if three or four of those six invitees make the Team USA roster.

Did anyone see the next wave of invitees for Team USA? The latest list includes:

Tommy Medica – Santa Clara/Bourne
Dustin Ackley – North Carolina/Harwich
Ryan Jackson – Miami/Hyannis
Ryan Ortiz – Oregon State/YD
Josh Phegley – Indiana/Wareham
Kyle Seager – North Carolina/Chatham
Stephen Strasburg – San Diego State/YD
Kendal Volz – Baylor/Wareham
Derek Dietrich – Georgia Tech/Wareham
Drew Pomeranz – Mississippi/Bourne
Kevin Rhoderick – Oregon State/YD
Ryan Berry – Rice/Bourne

The Wareham website also has Rick Hague from Rice also going to Team USA but he was not on the list on the USA Baseball website. Including Mike Minor and Andy Oliver from the original list, this would make 6 players from the Gatemen. YD and Bourne look like they’ve take a hit too.

Correct me if any of these are wrong.
