Roster Movements

As always, at this time of the season there are too many roster movements to even attempt to report them.   I will pass along a few transactions though, just because of the significance of them.   Casey Haerther (UCLA) will not be coming to Chatham this summer.   He will likely be having knee surgery soon.   Haerther’s absence may leave a large void in the middle of the A’s lineup.   Another UCLA Bruin, pitcher Gavin Brooks was scheduled to return to Chatham for his second season on the Cape, but he was dropped from the A’s roster a couple weeks ago.   Also, Jeremy Synan (N.C. State) has signed with the Florida Marlins.   Synan batted .388 in 18 games for the A’s in 2007.

Mike Bianucci is a recent addition to the Cotuit roster.   Bianucci played for Y-D in 2006 and he was with the Kettleers last year.

In looking at the box scores, or checking the “team stats” page, there are many players currently on the Cape who do not show up on the roster that is posted on their team’s website.

There are really only a couple of teams that keep their website roster reflective of the players in the dugout.

Russell Moldenhauer from Texas had surgery and is not coming to Wareham.

The USA roster, according to their website, is supposed to be announced next Tues/Wed. I looked through the box scores of the games they have played so far and it really does read like a preseason CCBL All-Star Team!! It wil be interesting to see who doesn’t make the team and then comes to the Cape.

I understand that Josh Phegley will make Team USA and will not be coming to Wareham. Same goes for Ryan Berry in Bourne and Kyle Gibson in Falmouth.

I imagine that is true for a few other guys also Wicker Man… Mike Minor, who made the team last year, is off to a 2-0 start with USA, I’m sure Dustin Ackley with go straight from Omaha to USA and why would they leave off Derek Dietrich.

Concerning Dietrich, what could happen in favor of Wareham is that he makes USA but because he and Rick Hague from Rice play the same position; AND Christian Colon is playing well and also plays shortstop, Hague ends up not making the team and comes to the Cape. (although Dietrich has been playing 3B)
