Day 41: Falmouth Beats Harwich 5-4
Posted by Greg | Filed Under Games | 2 Comments

Trevor Coleman of Falmouth is the switch-hitting catcher and All-Star who leads the CCBL in walks. Coleman scored the winning run against Harwich.
Overcoming exciting back-to-back homeruns by the Harwich Mariners in the 9th inning, the Falmouth Commodores came back in extra innings to win 5-4. It was Falmouth Manager Jeff Trundy’s 200th victory.
Falmouth is rising in the West, improving to 17-15-1, just behind Hyannis.
The M’s Brandon Belt (Texas) and Andrew Giobbi (Vanderbilt) took Falmouth deep in the top of the ninth to make it 4-3 only to see Falmouth’s A.J. Pollock (Notre Dame) tie it up in the bottom of the 9th with a solo homer to the left field corner.
With Trevor Coleman on 3rd based in the bottom of the 10th, Falmouth drew a walk with bases loaded for a walk-off-walk.
Although he gave up the tying run in the bottom of the 9th, Steve Kalush (Santa Clara) looked impressive as he mixed low-90s fastballs with curves and change-ups.
It was a nice night in Falmouth, foggy and occasional lightning, but nice and cool. I stood with Falmouth officials who are doing some important fundraising activities to improve the Falmouth ballpark. Several incredible paintings depicting Commodore baseball scenes will be auctioned off around Aug. 3rd. Stay tuned on the Falmouth website. And you can now buy a brick for your favorite fan to support a new press box. Bricks are $150 each.

Are you guys still doing radio work with WCAI? If so, do you plan on posting more of those spots?
We are! In fact, tomorrow morning, WCAI morning show host Dan Tritle will interview NPR’s Neal Conan, who is doing play-by-play for the All-Star game, and then Dan and I will talk after that interview about the All-Star game.
All: let me know what key points you think should be made on NPR tomorrow about the all-star game. I’d love to reflect in my segment what interests CodBall readers.
We will also likely do something with WCAI from all-star game. Stay tuned.
