East Wins 8-6; Green and Paulsen MVPs

Posted by Andrew | Filed Under Games |

CCBL Commissioner Paul Galop called it one of the best All-Star Games in recent history.

The MVP awards were:

  • West: Hyannis’ Ben Paulsen (Clemson)
  • East: Chatham’s Grant Green (Southern California)

More All-Star Game coverage will be coming soon from Greg, who was at the game tonight.

Andrew, great reporting. I’ll just fill in a couple of details from here behind home plate.

In the West’s disastrous 8th inning — as the East loaded the bases — three streakers jumped into left field and ran across the outfield, hopping over the centerfield wall and disappearing into the woods. Then the next pitch, Grant Greene drove a two-run homerun over the centerfield wall. Then all of sudden a deep voice said, “it’s Sept. 11th again.” The crowd stood to sing along with Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA.” It was a bizarre sequence.

I’ll fill in some details when I’m back home. I’ve still got a long drive ahead back to Woods Hole.

I have never been so jammed into a stadium. We sat behind home plate and could barely breath.

We finally went out to centerfield to sit in beach chairs. It was fun to watch the 7-runs scored in the 8th from the comfort of centerfield.

Great coverage guys… Better than the CC Times. They are getting killed by a couple of posters on their site. They promised all day blog updates on their site and then only provided 2 entries about the HR derby. Terrible coverage. Even the day after coverage today is terrible. I’m disapointed.
