Angelo Songco representing the Orleans Cardinals and the East All-Stars hit a total of 13 home runs tonight to beat 5 other contenders at tonight’s 2008 Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game in Chatham.  DeAngelo Mack of the Y-D Red Sox placed second hitting a total of 10.  Mack replaced Joe Saunders who was a late scratch as he was reported to be injured.

Chris Dominguez, favored in the contest, hit 4 and failed to qualify for the final round.

Chris Dominguez was favored in the home run contest, but hit just 4. I still look for him to have a great night.

My son and  I sat on the centerfield berm and watching shot after shot as they sailed overhead to the fire station.  (My son did catch one of Mack’s shots to right field.

The game starts in an hour.  The crowd is large as expected. During batting practice, here are the guys I thought looked good:  Nike Liles, Tim Wheeler and Mark Fleury for the East.  Brent Milleville also looked good after he warmed up a bit.

Chris Dominguez and Dusty Coleman looked good for the West.  The ball really sounds different coming off of Dominguez’s bat.  He did struggle going opposite field.
