Sure…but even so…most fans are going to go the the league site to get the schedule and other information. It only makes sense to put that information there. My point is that it SHOULD be better as I don’t like it either.

The league may not decide the rainouts but they are certainly notified.

Capeman, the League is worried about the “League”, not so much the franchises. Their website is an absolute joke in my opinion.

Also, the league doesn’t decide rainouts prior to gametime, its the home franchise working in conjunction with the road team.

I will say this…. I DO think the league as a whole could do a better job at getting information to the fans in regards to rain-outs, delays, rescheduled games, etc. They have purposely tried to appeal to a broader audience and have succeeded based on the rising attendance figures. With that comes some responsibilty to those that you rely on to boost those attendance numbers.

The league website hardly ever has timely information and that really should be the place for updated, breaking news. Does the site even have scores until the next day and that is through a link to the stats service.

Overall, they do the best they can but I do think they should take advantage of the resources they have to get the information out regarding schedule changes and also perhaps change their mindset some and recognize the fact that people are relying on those sources for accurate and updated information.

You’re right. I understand that a lot of people put in a lot of time as a labor of love for the league and they have my utmost respect. I can see why you would take it that way, but my comment was intended to “tweak” the organizations but not meant to “take a shot.” What I’m trying to say is that it wasn’t meant to be as heavy-handed as it may have come across. I don’t mean for this to sound like “poor me”, or that I’m the only one this affects, but for people such as myself who have to travel more than an hour to get to Bourne or Wareham, and closer to two hours to get to games further down Cape, it is sometimes frustrating to not be able to get updated information.

Dave, a lot of people who you’ll never meet work 12 months a year so fans can enjoy free baseball on Cape Cod. I understand your frustration with the websites, but you have to realize how hard people work on their own time just to put the game on. No reason to take a shot at any organization, IMHO.

Well, since The Wicker Man is an “insider” while I’m an “outsider,” it’s good to get that perspective.
As for my location, no it’s not quite close to Chatham. I’m about 25 miles west of Boston and about an hour and a quarter from the Bourne Bridge which, considering the weather, is why I made the somewhat rational decision to not go to yesterday’s games.

Dave, I know of at least 2 people who had to take vacation time from work so they could leave their jobs early to spend four hours in the mud to get one of those fields ready. I apologize if you are too lazy to check in to the FREE broadcasting vehicles that the teams pay for to see if a game is on or not. I see your point, but you are sounding like a complete ignorant jerk here. People busted their asses so those games could be played last night and didn’t get a nickel for it so fans like you can watch a baseball game.

If Dave is so concerned with Harwich and Bourne not having time to update their respective websites…maybe those same VOLUNTEERS were actually on the field with rakes making those fields game ready. Sorry to put you through so much agony Dave. I’m guessing you are from Chatham or at least close by.

BTW, Its been my experience in life that the people that complain the most do the least!

I’ll agree to disagree with The Wicker Man. I think we all know that these folks are volunteers and they all have “real” jobs that take precedence. The only point I’m making is that I don’t think it is asking for too much to hope that someone could have taken literally two minutes to type one sentence on their website regarding the delayed start times. After all, my ignorance might have caused me to go to the game at 7:00, not knowing that the start time had been pushed back. I didn’t go, but I guess that just would have been tough luck for me though. In fairness, Harwich did post a notice on their site a little later.
