‘08 Playoffs (Championship): Marinated.
Posted by Andrew | Filed Under Games |
The Harwich Mariners put Game 1 of the Championship series away early with explosive 2nd and 3rd innings. Jason Stidham (Florida State) drove in a total of 6 runs to give him the early bid on MVP. The Kettleers didn’t get on the board till the 7th inning when Robert Stock (USC) hit a 2-run homerun off starter Mike Morrison (Cal State Fullerton) to make it 11-2. Morrison otherwise had a strong game and earned the win. Cape League Insider did a nice job today with live updates.
The Kettleers will look to force a Game 3 with a win tomorrow at Whitehouse Field. Kickoff is at 7pm, but I would make sure to get there early, as the work crowd will have a chance to see this one. Weather.com is still showing a 30% chance of showers throughout the day.

Congrats to Cotuit for an honest attendance count.
1,400+ does seem low for a championship game, even if it at 3pm.
If Cotuit used some of the “formulas” of other teams…cough, cough… their attendance figure would be about 6,000
According to the CC Times, Cotuit’s cleanup hitter Jason Kipnis went home on Tuesday and Coach Roberts didn’t find out until 9pm.
I wonder how that conversation went:
Kipnis-”Coach, I’ve got to leave because classes start in two weeks and I’ve got packing to do etc.”
Coach Roberts-”Jason, we’ve got a championship to win here, its only a couple of more days”
Kipnis-”Sorry coach, but my girlfriend really wants to hit the road tonight…but hey good luck tomorrow, I had a great summer, say thanks to all the unselfish people who took time out of their lives to make my stay here what it was”
Coach Roberts(thinking to himself)-”If I smash his head in with this Louisville Slugger, do I have time to hide the body AND redo my lineup card?”
Another selfish ballplayer letting his coach, team and organization down!!
