CodBall Conversation: Ivan “Have a Hit” Partridge
Posted by Greg | Filed Under Codball Conversations | 6 Comments
The voice that projects regularly and vociferously the words known to all Cotuit Kettleer fans — “HAVE A HIT” — surely cannot belong to this sweet 80-something year-old man with a walker and a hearing aid. He is Ivan Partridge.
HAVE…A…HIT!
But, alas, here he is in front of me at the conclusion of an important late summer matchup between his beloved Ketleers and the cross-town rivals, the Hyannis Mets. Cotuit’s defeat of Hyannis guarantees Cotuit the western division championship. And so Mr. Have a Hit, Ivan Partidge, is happy, practically giddy.
I have waited several years to get this interview. I’ve talked with league officials, players, authors, media stars and others, but it is Ivan that I’ve wished to interview for so long because I believe he so embodies the spirit of the Cape Cod Baseball League.
This former Episcopal clergyman and now super-fan of the Cotuit Ketleers is an energetic and knowledgeable baseball fan who enjoys his renown in ballparks both home and away.
In celebration of the Cotuit Ketleers’ bid for the CCBL championship, we offer you this CodBall Conversation with Ivan Partridge.

Do you have an audio track of Mr Ivan Partridge yelling: “Have a Hit!”?
I’d like to post it on my web page.
It has to be the most memorable sound for baseball fans heard on The Cape between the middle of June and August.
Thanks, RC
Hi Ray,
We have him say it in our CodBall conversation. Our podcast server lost all of our audio files. I am working on restoring them all on a different server. Check back soon!
Imagine this. I’m sitting here in NJ having a look at your site when I stumble into the interview with Ivan Partridge. And there it is complete with a picture of my father. It was nicely done. Thank You.
I am a former parishioner of Rev Partridge and would love to contact him.

Hi Mr. Partridge,
Didn’t know you were such a baseball fanatic. Looks as if you are having a ball with this!
Not bad for 80!
With fond memories of All Saints’,
