about the WMBL. it has 12 teams through Alberta and Saskatchewan. the premier team is the Okotoks Dawgs. they are back to back champions. Okotoks drew 1825 fans per game in 2008, good enough for 10th in North America for summer league. they also have a state of the art fieldhouse in construction.

Every year, the amount of top level NCAA and JUCO increases drastically. in 2009 USC (Southern California), WSU (Washington State), Oregon, UC Irvine, UC Berkeley, Western Kentucky U, Grambling St U among others, are sending players to the WMBL.

it is rapidly becoming a legitimate option for players at all collegiate levels from both sides of the border

here are a couple links:

He is in exams right now, I will talk to him about it over the winter break. I know he had a very positive experience on the Cape.

Ben:
I would be very interested - and I think other folks would be interested also - to read some comments from your nephew regarding his summer with the Hyannis Mets. If he would be willing to share, and if you would be willing to post his thoughts on CodBall, that would be great. What did he like about the CCBL and the Cape in general? What did he not like? What were his impressions of the league overall? Coming off of his college season, was it a problem to play six games a week for the next eight weeks? Did the talent level in the league exceed, or fall short of, whatever his perception of the league was before he arrived on the Cape? If your nephew was "Commissioner for a Day," what would he change about the league?
Those are some of the things I would be interested to read. Feel free to contribute anything else he is willing to share. We are all fans of the CCBL but we try not to be a publicity arm of the league. Most of what we report is deservedly positive but if there are any negatives to report, it is OK to post them also. I hope we present a balanced view. Would you be willing to share his thoughts with the readers of CodBall?

Hi Ben,

That's a good idea. I think we will do a post at some point to show how CodBall has grown over the years and include some of the interesting data.

Greg,
That would be great. My nephew played for Hyannis last summer and I have been following CodBall ever since. You guys go a long way toward pacifying baseball junkies in the off-season.

Greg,
Any chance you could post one of those reports? I think your readers would be interested in where we come from as well.

Looks like the WMBL has the Regina Red Sox and the Yorkton Cardinals. I wonder if they have to pay royalties to MLB...
