Steve WeissmanSteve Weissman, author of “Beach Chairs and Baseball Bats: A Celebration of the Cape Cod Baseball League”, is once again talkin’ baseball. Per an email I received from him today, he has accepted a position with Examiner.com and will be in charge of the Boston Baseball Examiner, where he will talk about general baseball and the Cape league. His latest post talks about the upcoming Hall of Fame results (to be announced Monday, January 12).

Steve’s Beach Chairs and Baseball Bats (2005) was one of the latest books on the Cape League to be published. While some of the fields and team names have changed since then, the book is one of the best ways to be introduced to the CCBL. It’s very easy to read and a good addition to any baseball fan’s library.

Speaking of Cape League books, according to the Gatemen website a while back, a reporter from the SouthCoastToday out of New Bedford (forget his name) is doing a book about John Wylde. Perhaps this is the next CCBL related book to hit the shelves….we are overdue!!

James Canavan is also working on a “coming-of-age story about the Cape Cod Baseball League”.
