Two Miami Hurricanes, Iden Nazario (LHP) and Yasmani Grandal (C), return from the ’08 team.
Many schools are represented with multiple players on the Whitecaps roster. In addition to Nazario and Grandal, the ‘Canes are also sending infielder Harold Martinez to Brewster. The Whitecaps will also have three players from the Univ. of Virginia and Stanford. Other schools represented by two players each include Cal-Berkeley, Mississippi, San Francisco, Texas, Texas Christian, UCLA and West Virginia.
Niko Gallego (INF; UCLA) is the son of Mike Gallego. The elder Gallego spent 13 years in the majors with the A’s, Yankees and Cardinals.

This belongs with the John Wylde post and I don’t mean to hijack this one but didn’t know if everyone would scroll down to see this piece from today’s Cape Cod Times about Mr. Wylde…some interesting stuff in there.

Also be on the lookout for Whitecaps OF John Barr, a soph. at UVA. He led the Cavaliers in batting average as a Frosh in ’08.
How lucky did Brewster get when the phenom from Univ. of San Diego Kyle Blair got added to their roster. His stuff is down rite nasty
