The Gatemen website, at the end of their story about John Wylde, lists a number of links to articles about Mr. Wylde’s passing. Most interesting is a piece by Allan Simpson where he notes that the name for “Baseball America” was developed in John Wylde’s living room.

Andrew/Greg, I thought I’d pass along a link to the notice on John’s passing from Harvard’s website. John (class of ’60) remained an avid Crimson supporter to the end.

As a freelance writer covering the CCBL, I was lucky to interact often with John over the past several years. In a league loaded with nice guys, there were none that came any nicer than him.

From everything I’ve read and heard, John Wylde has left a mark on this league and the game of baseball that will be felt for a long time.

I think I speak for many “Codballers” when I say that John, his family and the Gatemen family are all in our thoughts and prayers.
