Bourne Braves Top Y-D Red Sox, 8-2

Bourne LHP Cameron Roth (UNC-Wilmington)
Roller borrowed pitcher Turner Phelps‘ (James Madison) #31 jersey, and went on to have an outstanding night at the plate, leading the Braves to an 8-2 win over the Y-D Red Sox. Roller went 4-4, with 2 HR, 2 doubles and 4 RBI, and was hit by a pitch. Bourne teammate Stefen Romero (Oregon State) also hit well, going 2-4 with a HR, 3 RBI and 3 runs scored.
While Roller and Romero provided the offense, Cameron Roth (UNC-Wilmington) was very sharp on the mound, going 6 innings, allowing 6 hits, with 3 K’s and 2 walks. He didn’t allow a run until Steve Chatwood‘s (San Diego) 2-run HR in the 6th.
For Y-D, the problem was errors (4 of the runs were unearned), the HR’s (their pitchers gave up 3 total), and failure to capitalize with men on base. Austin Wates (Virginia Tech) went 4-4, but wasn’t able to cross the plate even once.
Y-D hosts the Falmouth Commodores Sunday at 5pm, and Bourne hosts the Harwich Mariners at 5:30.
