I think it'd be hard pressed to pick anyone besides Harvey Shapiro as Manager of the Year. He managed his team, really, out of two terrible stretches.

Credit has to go, also, to Kelly Nicholson at Orleans and Pickler at YD.

Tunkel is a funny word, I agree.

I agree w/ Lloyd about pitcher of the year although it is completely stat driven to determine the winner.

Any candidates for manager of the year which is voted on by all field managers?
I have it as coming down to Pickler (YD) and Shapiro (Bourne). Any thoughts? Not just because both teams are in 1st place but I think they did the best job of managing and recruiting their talent this season.

Tunkel??...that's a funny word:-)

And the Wareham Gatemen website answered my other question... "The 2nd place teams automatically host first round games."

My understanding is that the second place teams in each division get to host, regardless of their seeding.

It appears that Bourne is pretty committed to clinching 1st place tonight...they send ace Alex Wimmers to the hill against Hyannis. Wareham and Bourne play one another on the final day, which could mean a lot for both clubs if Bourne loses tonight. Cotuit seems to be more focused on resting their starters for the playoffs. League ERA leader Jake Buchanan would be the starter tonight for the Kets, but it appears Mike Roberts will go with someone else against Y-D tonight.

Thanks for the clarification Lloyd! I was basing most of my comment on thinking the head-to-head matchups would determine tiebreakers. That means 90% of what I said can be ignored, which not-so-coincidentally is about the same percentage of what my wife ignores that I say anyway!

Thanks again for setting the record straight.

Dave, I believe the tie breaker in interconference ties (i.e. Wareham and Chatham) is the winner of the All Star Game so as I understand it, a tie in that situation would go to Wareham.

Bourne only needs one point in its remaining two games to win the west. Wareham cannot win the division due to Bourne's winning record vs. them this year.

Cotuit needs to win its last two games and the Braves need to lose its last two for the Kettleheads to win the division.

Finally, Roller is MVP, Sale is probably pitcher of the year and (of course) Tunkel sucks. :)

Is there anyway to tell or any place to look to see what the most number of players (and or coaches who have played college ball) from one college or university is to play in the CCBL playoffs? I see Connecticut has seven players then three coaches who are past players at Conncticut.

Anyone know of more?

Jim Ed: If there was any doubt as to who the MVP is - and I really don't think there has been a question for a couple weeks - Roller has erased that doubt with his recent performance. Todd Cunningham would probably get some mention, but he hasn't had the same impact as Roller.

Roller is now batting .345 and although that is a distant second to Cunningham's .396, Roller's production numbers of 10 homeruns and 32 RBI make him a slam-dunk for MVP.
