Bourne over Y/D this year. Y/D is a powerhouse, but Bourne went 3-1 vs. them this year and finished with just two less losses overall.

I like Bourne’s rotation of Morgado, Maness, Wimmers, and Cantrell and their bullpen as well as their offense that is clicking right now.

Bourne enters the postseason red hot and they will have a few days to set up their rotation for, I imagine, Orleans in round one.

I think Wareham upsets Cotuit (would that even be an upset?). Armstrong (who SHOULD have won pro prospect over Cunningham) and Workman are better than Buchanan and Blair up front.

I give Chatham no chance over Orleans, even in a one game set.

    Orleans over Chatham
    Wareham over Cotuit
    ———————-
    Bourne over Orleans
    YD over Wareham
    ———————-
Bourne over YD (and, of course, Tunkel remains a funny word) :)

Bourne did CCBL fans (except for those in Wareham) a favor by beating the Gatemen last night in a game that had no implications for the Braves. With the loss, Wareham travels to Cotuit on Friday so that sets fans up to be able to go to the 3:00 game in Cotuit and the 7:00 game in Orleans. It will be more of the same on Saturday with Y-D hosting a game at 3:00 and Bourne hosting a game at 7:00. Everyone has the opportunity to attend two games on the first two days of the playoffs. See ya there! Enjoy!!

I actually like Chatham over Orleans in round 1 and have a sneaky feeling that Chatham will give YD a run for their money but the Red Sox win it in 3 games.

I too like Wareham over Cotuit if for no other reason than the pitching. Armstrong, Workman, Green or Pfisterer can beat the Kettleers.

That would then pit Bourne vs Wareham in the other round 2 best of 3. I think pitching again is the story and if the Gatemen can put together 3 solid starts, I think they can defeat the Braves. The question is how can Wareham stop Roller, LePage, Romero, etc??? They haven’t so far in beating Wareham every time this season. Saying that, I pick the Gatemen in 3 games.

That pits YD vs Wareham in the final for me. Chris Sale vs. Jack Armstrong would be great and YD has the horses to compete with the Gatemen from a starting pitching standpoint. They also have the best anchor in the league in Tyler Burgoon that simply won’t allow any late inning heroics by the opposition. Offensively, Wates & Wiswall can carry them so I like YD in a two game sweep.

If I’m wrong and a Bourne/YD matchup is in the cards, it will be a tremenous offensive matchup.

It will all be fun to follow and watch.

LOL. Wareham is 0-6 vs. Bourne this year and you think they can beat them? Bourne played their JVs last night against Wareham in a game the Gatemen needed and Bourne still won.

Didn’t know the potential league MVP Kyle Roller was on the JV squad? LOL

I’m feeling that Wareham will win it all, if for no other reason John Wylde watching over them.

John Wylde is rolling over in his grave after listening to Wareham’s new announcer this season.
Painful to the ears…hopefully when his voice changes in a couple of years, we will see improvement!

Pretty much in agreement with Lloyd’s analysis….except Cotuit over Wareham (groan)

A tunkel sounds like something you do in the morning after a hard night of drinking! ;-)

    Dave,

I think the league would have 1 game @3pm and 1 game @7pm regardless of lights/no lights at fields.

Take it easy Lloyd…we are all just making innocent predictions and having some fun. Noone is ripping on Bourne..especially if you read my comments.

Statistically speaking, it should be Bourne vs. YD, but, in a short season, statistics can be misleading due to the limited amount of plate appearances and pitching opportunities.

That said, Bourne with Wimmers and Morgado have the ability to shut down offenses. YD has Sale and a team ERA of 2.79

The Braves LH Hitters(Woodward/Roller/Schwaner) that played in the 1-0 game against Sale went 1-10 with Phelps and the Braves bullpen shutting down the Sox.

All the coaches will be challenged due to the games being in consecutive days. The wild card play-in game will burn a pitcher. The best bullpen and teams who produce in the Divisional Series after that, and in the Finals, will win it.

By request, some final regular season notes:

After gyrating numerous statistics and Sabers, the names Roller and Cunningham keep popping up. Huge congratulations to both, one drafted in a round that doesn’t match his hitting abilities, and one becoming a huge blip on the draft radar. Either one deserves MVP, my nod to Roller as far as his contributions to the Braves, and a special nod to Todd C. for displaying his abilities to MLB and representing a college program not in the limelight.

The regular season ended with CCBL hitters batting at a .235 clip, much lower than previous years. Hitters on average struck out in 23% of their plate appearances. Three players had a combined K/BB ratio of 25:1 and basically refused to seek a walk? The CCBL average was in the 2:1 range.

For the 2010 Draft, I see a pool of CCBL position players who are very athletic and can possibly project well as they develop further.

the braves are on fire more so than a lefko.. they will win it all over y-d. Their offense is comming together while the pitching has been stellar.

wimmers and morgado ring up western division opponents like mcnally rings up batters.

Willie, half the starting lineup sat and Phelps started in that game and Wareham still lost.

Lloyd..that was one game and while I know Bourne beat Wareham all 6 times this year, you can’t make your claim on only one baseball game. Besides, LePage came into that game and got a hit, Seggedin came into the game and walked and Roller and Romero played the whole game. Those player…those starters…sparked the entire comeback. Bourne will definately be favored over whoever they face in round 2 but don’t be SO blinded by your loyalty that the idea that they could lose is not possible.

Ditto with Chatham. They may be the 6 seed but does anyone really believe that they CAN’T beat Orleans in one game?

On paper, YD and Bourne — even if they get marginal hitting and pitching — are so balance that their talent alone should take them to the finals but this league is so balanced from top to bottom and anyone could win this thing. Afterall, a mere 6 & 8 points respectively separate Bourne from Cotuit and Wareham in the standings with all three teams either leading the division themselves or being tied for it in the last week of the season.

Is Bourne really a favorite over Orleans in a 2 out of 3?

I mean going by Lloyd’s logic they have no chance since Orleans worked them silly in every game they played = P.

Frankly, I am not sure Bourne is consistent enough on the offensive end to win the whole thing. They are on a heater right now, but look who is hitting to give them another threat in the middle of the order (Romero). If he doesn’t hit, only way they score is to have Woodward/LaPage be on base in front of Roller. I would have moved LaPage down awhile ago so the middle of the order isn’t so empty at times, but since that won’t happen, I think Romero is going to need to be hitting for them to have a chance.

& I am rooting for Bourne.

Tito..I think Bourne is a solid team and seems to be hitting a good stride which is why I think a YD/Bourne match-up would be intriguing.

Tito, we’re talking about a short series. Best of three doesn’t exactly a team to go on a prolonged winning streak. Bourne clearly has the horses to win it all this year due to their pitching.

I am not disagreeing that they have the pieces in place to win it. But it just seems like since they won the Western Division they are automatically favorites over Orleans, which I would say is debatable.

    bourne vs. orleans
    cotuit vs. y-d

Bourne composite in the 4 losses to Orleans. The only competitive game was a 2-1 loss with Wimmers on the mound. “Orleans is scheduled to throw Jorge Reyes (1-2) of Oregon State in tonight’s game at Bourne, followed by Jimmy Reyes (3-2) of Elon and Elliot Glynn (3-2) of UConn”

    Roller. 3 for 14
    LePage. 5 for 11
    Campbell……. 3 for 12
    Segedin 2 for 14
    Romero. 2 for 12
    Schwaner……. 1 for 8
    Woodward……. 5 for 9
    MacPhee……. 2 for 7
    Rice… 1 for 6
    Wallace……. 1 for 6
    Klafczynski…. 0 for 2
    LaRosa. 0 for 1

  24. willie

Well, lets see. Those are the hitting stats against Orleans and the 3 pitchers they will face.

  25. Former Braves Intern

Willie, Orleans pitching stifled the Braves (and vice versa for that matter) and Bourne still won. This is why baseball is played between the lines and not on a graph or spreadsheet.
