Congrats, Cotuit. Bob Costas’ book Fair Ball: a fan’s case for baseball argues (among other things) for big baseball games to be played in the daylight. Looking at pictures from today’s championship I can see what he means.
Congratulations to the 2010 Cape Cod Baseball League Champions: the Cotuit Kettleers! I don’t know where they found the magic which brought them to the title, but they did. With six straight losses to end the season, they certainly didn’t look like Championship material. But they somehow clicked in the post-season, and got the job done. It was so nice to see Arnold Mycock handing the trophy which bears his name to his beloved Kettleers. In my opinion, the home run by Michael Yastrzemski (Vanderbilt) in the deciding Game 3, seemed to be the dagger in Y-D’s heart, and seemed to seal the deal for the Kettleers. What a fantastic season in the Cape League. Great weather, great baseball, and great people. Can’t wait until 2011. And I salute Codball.com for yet another year of terrific CCBL coverage.
Congratulations to Cotuit, manager Mike Roberts, the players, and especially the folks in Cotuit who put all this together. Great to see the pic of the celebration, and wonderful that so many fans turned out for the championship series. It says a lot about the specialness of the Cape League.
On to 2011 and (I hope) a Hyannis resurgence!
Cape League just concluded what is undoubtedly one of their best seasons- with over 13,000 people for 3 game title tilt. Nice job Codball.
