The Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) is America’s premier summer league for elite amateur baseball. One in seven of today’s active big leaguers played on the Cape. CodBall is devoted to the devotee of baseball – the professional scout, player, manager, staff, and fan.
CodBall was founded by two fans of the league: Greg Shaw and Andrew Wirtanen. Dave joined the CodBall team as a regular correspondent during the 2007 season and now runs @CodBall on Twitter. Dave used to attend Cape league games with his dad, and admits to being old enough to remember watching the Bourne Canalmen (now the Braves) play at Keith Field, the Yarmouth Indians (now the Y-D Red Sox) play at the Simpkins School, the Harwich Mariners play at Brooks Park, and recalls when the Orleans Cardinals wore blue uniforms! Yup, that's right. The Cardinals wore white/blue at home and gray/blue on the road.
In the 2019 season Harrison Meyers joined the Codball family. Harrison has spent 14 years with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks organization and is currently writing his thesis on the team. Harrison is also an experienced Podcaster and host of the Harbor Hawk podcast Birds the Word.
Since 2006, CodBall has attracted both national and regional media attention ranging from many sports blogs to mainstream news media such as USA Today, Cape Cod Times, WGBH (NPR) and the South Coast Today.
