In the past few days, there have been a few players who's names have the dreaded "X" next to their names on the Team Stats page. The Cotuit Kettleers have been hit hard. They lost Mike Bianucci (Auburn) to a hip flexor injury. Now Jason Rook (Appalachian State) has been removed from the active roster. Bianucci was batting .228 with 3 HR and 10 RBI while Rook was hitting .333 with no homeruns and 6 RBI. Brewster has also lost some pop from their offense as David Cooper (Cal.) and Brad Glenn (Arizona) are no longer with the Whitecaps. Cooper was batting .284, 2HR, 15 RBI. Although Glenn was only batting .197, he did have 3 HR and 13 RBI. Adam Crabtree, a pitcher from Boston College who was with Brewster earlier in the year, is now back on the Whitecaps roster.
The Chatham A's roster has been in a state of flux for much of the season. Reliever Greg Shannon left the team a couple weeks ago. The A's received a serious blow last week when Gavin Brooks (UCLA) left the team after experiencing arm/shoulder discomfort. Brooks last appearance was on June 26, when he pitched magnificently in a game at Wareham. Matt Giannini (P, Rutgers) has also been dropped from the Chatham active roster. Jeremy Synan (OF, N.C. State) and Michael Surina (C, Chaffey College) have been added to the roster. Surina started the year as the A's bullpen catcher and was actually activated and played in one game earlier this season before being deactivated. Word is that back-up catcher Gregg Glime (Baylor) has suffered a hand injury.
Michael Hollander (Wareham) and Austin Wood (Hyannis) have left the Cape recently as well.
