The Hyannis Mets are gone, and so are my hopes of seeing a baseball-head Mr. Met mascot dancing on the dugout under the lights behind the former Barnstable High School. The Hyannis Harbor Hawks, not to be confused with Triple H, have a great lineup with many returners and major league legacies. Hyannis has six returning players by my count, but only four may wind up on the Cape. Outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. (South Carolina) and ACC Pitcher of the Year Danny Hultzen both made Right Field Fog's Top 5 List, but they are also being targeted by Team USA. The returner to watch should be '09 All-Star Johnny Ruettiger who is coming off of a .356 season with Arizona State.
If Hultzen opts for Team USA, the Harbor Hawks are without any star starters from the spring. They will rely mostly on relievers looking to transform or squeeze their way into their school's rotation in the fall.
If I was to keep my eye on one player on Hyannis (that I expect to be on the final roster) it would be Cam Seitzer (Oklahoma), son of former major leaguer Kevin Seitzer. Cam's roadtrip to the Cape may potentially be held up by the College World Series, but the Sooner he joins the Harbor Hawks, the better (get it?). He's one of three Sooners with solid home run and RBI counts.
