Earlier today, junior righthander Will Roberts threw the first perfect game in Virginia history, leading the Cavaliers past George Washington, 2-0. It was just the eighth nine-inning perfect game in NCAA Division 1 history, and the first in Div. 1 since 2002. Roberts struckout 10 G.W. batters. Even before today's masterpiece, Roberts had been immense for #2 Virginia. Roberts is now 5-0 with a 1.33 ERA. In 39.2 innings, he has struckout 41 while issuing just 3 walks and has a WHIP of 0.73. Roberts pitched in 16 innings over the course of 7 games for Bourne last summer. He compiled a record of 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA. In his time with the Braves, Roberts showed excellent control with an 11/3 strikeout to walk ratio.
Congratulations on the perfect game, Will!
