It's official; the Barnstable Land Trust raised $1.8 million to purchase land surrounding Lowell Park in Cotuit. More than 1600 donors pulled through to help preserve the land from being developed. The Barnstable Patriot reported on this story on December 23, 2015.
Lowell Park has been home to the Cotuit Kettleers since the team was founded in 1947. The Park was part of Elizabeth Lowell High School, which was on the site of the parking lot (Jim Gould has a little history on that). Lowell Park is one of the few remaining Cape League fields without lights. Phase 3 of the Capital Project to make park improvements is scheduled for completion before the 2015 season.
